Kunsthal Aarhus invites you to nine days of unpredictability and exuberant chaos when the artist group Napalm Kunst presents the experimental pop-up exhibition Napalm Kunsthal.

Experience Napalm Kunst - a collective fusion of seven of Aarhus' most cutting-edge artists. The exhibition is an explosive cocktail of paintings, sculptures, sound installations, videos and performances, where the artists' individual expressions collide and harmonize in a choreographed chaos.

About Napalm Kunst

Napalm Kunst began as a collective of artists based in Sydhavnen, Aarhus, who joined forces to create a site-specific art festival in the neighborhood. The festival featured group exhibitions, open studios, and avant-garde sound performances. In May 2018, the following artists organized the SPRUDL Art Festival at Sydhavnen: Aske Krammer, Emil Brahe, Ida Kiil, William Thiemer, Mads Oxholm, Anne Zidore, Marc Pilgaard, Alisa Hentze Pilgaard, Abdul Dube, and Lars Høygaard.

SPRUDL took place over three days, offering an array of open studios, poetry performances, sound and video works, and a large group exhibition. Later that year, from late August to early September, Napalm Kunst organized another three-day art festival, SPRAVL, in collaboration with partners such as Knuds Kiosk (now Sydhans). This event included experimental sound art concerts, a smaller group exhibition, and open studios hosted by many of the local artists. During Aarhus Festival 2019, Napalm Kunst hosted the event Galleri Sydhavnen in Mads Wahlberg's venue in the neighborhood, presenting a mix of concerts and a major group exhibition, continuing their tradition of multidisciplinary artistic events.

In 2022, 2023, and 2024, during Sydhavnen’s annual festival, Napalm Kunst collaborated with organizations such as Foreningen Sydhavnen, Knuds Kiosk, Sydhans, Kosmos Solo, and Foreningen Gadeliv to organize art exhibitions, concerts, and decorations featuring local artists. These events attracted thousands of visitors, offering the public a rare opportunity to experience Aarhus’ avant-garde art scene up close.

In August 2023, Napalm Kunst formally established itself as a nonprofit organization with the aim of continuing and expanding its events while serving as an artistic think tank. The organization provides a platform for its members to inspire, support, and collaborate with one another by sharing resources and networks. Following its formalization, Napalm Kunst received support from Aarhus Kommunes Bylivspulje and Kulturudviklingspuljen to host Avantgardextravaganza 2024 - a year-long festival at Sydhavnen featuring cultural highlights and collaborations.

Napalm Kunst strives to amplify the voice of the Jutlandic avant-garde, creating a shared platform where artists can come together. The collective’s ambition is to contribute to the growth and visibility of experimental art within Denmark’s cultural landscape.
