The exhibition Bugs and Metamorphosis aligns with Kunsthal Aarhus’s research-based exhibition profile to focus on experimental art. It does so by inviting a group of prominent artists who explore the concept of ‘bugs’ (both errors and insects) as metaphors, as technical aspects and as an artistic method.
Here, a ‘bug’ is seen to mean an error within a larger system. The exhibition offers critical perspectives on both the mechanical and natural worlds, bringing the dual meaning of ‘bug’ into play.
Bugs and Metamorphosis is inspired by insect behaviour and entomology, addressing themes such as swarms, bonds, symbiosis, viruses and radical non-human perspectives on the world.
The exhibition is part of a comprehensive initiative launched by Kunsthal Aarhus, aiming to enhance the institution’s public engagement and outreach. It is realised in co-operation with the Hasselblad Foundation in Gothenburg with Louise Wolthers and Nina Mangalanayagam as curators.
