Alter and Kunsthal Aarhus are thrilled to welcome Senyawa and Arrington De Dionyso to Aarhus. The concerts will be held on April 25 at the lovely Kunsthal Aarhus.
Senyawa
Jogjakarta’s Senyawa embodies the aural elements of Javanese music whilst exploring the framework of experimental music practice, pushing the boundaries of both traditions. Their music strikes a perfect balance between their avant-garde influences and cultural heritage to create truly contemporary Indonesian new music.
Their sound is comprised of Rully Shabara’s deft extended vocal techniques punctuating the frenetic sounds of instrument builder, Wukir Suryadi’s modern-primitive instrumentation.
Arrington de Dionyso
An uncompromising voice in contemporary music, Arrington de Dionyso (b. 1975 Chicago USA) integrates ancient soundmaking techniques with trans-modernist inquiries into the nature of consciousness. His propulsive improvisations utilize kargyraa voice combined with reed instruments (primarily bass clarinet, saxophone, and his invention the Bromiophone) as multiphonic tools in the navigation of liminal spaces between shamanic seance and rock and roll ecstasy.
