Åsa Sonjasdotter is an artist and a co-initiator of the Prinzessinnengarten Neighbourhood Academy in Berlin. She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and was a founding member of a feminist art group, Women Down the Pub. Attending to the complexities of knowledge and power, since 2005 her long-term research project, Potatoes' Perspective, has involved cultivating potato varieties as an intervention against biodiversity loss due to agricultural crop monocultures. The project has been presented at Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Princess Gardens in Berlin, and at Sapporo International Art festival, among others.
Sonjasdotter’s project at DUMP! was supported by AURA postdoctoral researcher, Filippo Bertoni. Bertoni works in the fields of science and technology studies and multispecies ethnography. His research focuses on cyanobacteria and landscape dynamics in Rio Tinto mines.
