Poland’s first institution working at the intersection of contemporary art, media and communication.
WRO's original exhibition, educational, research and publication programs are based on experimental arts and organization practices.
Culminating in Polish and international projects, they showcase the creative potential of new technologies and explore the innovative relationships of image, sound and perception in the context of contemporary art and cultural reflection.
WRO's programs reach out to a broad public interested in new languages of art.
The WRO Art Center is an independent institution and a public benefit organization.
The WRO Art Center also organizes the WRO International Media Art Biennale – the major forum for new media art in Poland, and one of the leading international contemporary art events in Europe. Since its inception in 1989, WRO has been presenting art forms created using new media for artistic expression and communication. The array of exhibitions and presentations that make up every WRO Biennale feature a wide variety of genres and forms, including video, installations, analogue and digital media performances, interactive works, net-based and social media projects.
The most recent edition, WRO 2015 – TEST EXPOSURE took place in May-July 2015.
